Trying to decide whether you should go for Slack or looking for an alternative? You might want to read this!
But first, why compare Slack and Gridle?
We ourselves used Slack for about 6 months for comprehensive understanding and today, after converting about 6 companies who previously used Slack and then moved to Gridle, we thought we should highlight some key differences that will help you determine which tool to choose while choosing a collaboration/ communication/ instant-messaging tool for your teams or projects.
Here’s a quick feature comparison..
Essentially, you can chat & work at the same time!
It’s not ground breaking, we know. But sometimes, convenience of having everything; from colleagues, content and context to files, tasks, chats and video calls is much more important than being able to use GIFs in your chats or looking at fancy bots all day that take up more of your time rather than delivering value.
After a while, it becomes a bit old-school; jumping between tools to get stuff done.
Slack limits; Gridle doesn’t. Because, while working, the last thing you should be worried about is how much server space do you have left. While working with your teams, you should not compromise on sharing the documents, designs, reports or even Christmas cards for that matter; or, dread the day when you will have to spend hours cleaning your file-space when you are about to reach your limit.
To facilitate quick, open and stress-free sharing, Gridle allows for unlimited storage to each of it’s customers; free or paid.
A unified System, Gridle
As you can see in one of the case-studies we did with IFP, a premiere Event Management company, Gridle significantly reduced the number of tools that were being used.
They had a system: Some things happened on calls, others in excel sheets. Parts of it were updated on Asana and some were lost in Slack. Brochures were forwarded to each other on mail. The team looked at Slack and saw extra effort that they had to put in by updating team members there. Same issue with excel sheets.
Gridle replaced about 2 of them and integrated with rest.
Fewer tools → Less time spent juggling between platforms → More time on work → Higher productivity
“We’ve tried pretty much everything out there. If something isn’t fun or powerful, people and teams will not accept it. Gridle gives you the best of both worlds.” — Megha, Sponsorship Manager, IFP.
Things actually get done with Gridle Tasks & Projects!
One of the major reasons why companies are preferring Gridle over Slack is because teams can intelligently manage their tasks & priorities while having fluid conversation with their colleagues. It’s important for any team to have clear milestones & deliverables within projects and Gridle tasks offers just that.
As far as integrations are concerned, we work a little bit different than Slack. Instead of starting with an intimidating 50 services you can integrate with your account the exact same way, we understand your use-case first.
The first thing we do when you sign up is ask you which other services you use and then try to understand the best way to integrate them with Gridle so that you end up getting the most value. Because in the end, the point is that if you are using 10 different services to run your company, and if all of them integrate the same exact way, it just simply ends up becoming a patch-work delivering no value at all, as time passes.
Did we mention? we don’t charge for integrations even though they are custom done for you. Because, the idea is to serve you, our customer, and not to build something that is scalable, yet makes you go rounds.
Thinking how quickly do we build custom integrations?
Here’s what we did for one of our customers, Zepo, when they wanted an integration with Freshdesk. 7 days. That’s it.
You mean savings!
Currently you pay about $6.67/user/month for Slack when paid annually. If you go monthly, that 6.67 becomes $8/user/month!
As you can see on our pricing page, we are at a little more than half the cost with $5/user/month even if you are paying monthly. All discounts for long term commitment work on this plan. More importantly, we’ve got fair-billing policy in place. So, if there are people in your company who don’t use Gridle, we will not bill you for them. So, you can rest assured! After all, fair’s fair.
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Between us and Slack, we share about 4 features. Gridle has about 6 more in Tasks, File Mgmt. etc but it is more than the collection of it’s features. Think of it this way. If you are a 50 people company and go for Gridle instead of Slack for a year, apart from getting more value with better features, you will also be able to save enough to:
- Get an Italian Coffee Maker for your office or
- Get monthly massages for all your employees or
- One extra coffee/employee/day or
- Branded Custom Designed company Hoodie for all your teams
- Your boss’s good word!
- If you’re your own boss, peace of mind!
Now tell me, that ain’t cool!
And, you always have Alfred..
Alfred is your personal assistant who will show you around in Gridle and by the 2nd minute you’ll feel like you’ve always been here! Here’s a couple other things that Alfred will do for you.
One of the really cool things about Alfred is also that it will get smarter over time. While we believe that everyone deserves a personal assistant, we also know that no-one likes a dumb one! ;)
In the end,
You have tried a lot of project management, chat or task management softwares online and have not been satisfied. You then have inevitably, moved back to email. We’ve been there and it’s hard! Emails are good for great many things but not for long running projects.
The idea behind Gridle is to bring all the forms of communication possible on the internet today in one place. When that is accomplished, visibility into projects dramatically increase, bottle-neck identification happens faster and informed decisions are made quicker.

Happy working :D
Until next time.
